<itunes:summary>(http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/John-Krasinski-01-150x201.jpg)Is this the new Captain America (http://www.superherohype.com/news/captainamericanews.php?id=9144&offset=275)? That was the rumour earlier today. What do you think?

We don't actually talk about Krasinski as Cap because the episode was recorded a week ago, b ut I couldn't think of a good image to go with the new episode.

We recorded this last week, but last week was also midterms, so the podcast got pushed back. Sorry, folks, priorities.

Anyways, it's that time of the month again, so Matt and John dive into the March previews. John proves he only looks at the pretty pictures and Matt is planning on cutting back on Marvel post-siege. Do you have any upcoming changes to your pull list? Let us know.

Also, at the end of the show we have a new contest, tell us your comic spaz stories and win a TPB (in print) of your choice. entries should be sent to feedback@comicsradar.com (mailto:feedback@comicsradar.com)</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:subtitle>After the Darkest Night, comes the Brightest Day. So, too, comes a new Comics Radar Podcast. We're back, delving into the January Issue of Previews and covering some of the absolutely shocking announcements about comics and comic based movies.</itunes:subtitle>
		<itunes:summary>(http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/brightest-day-150x202.jpg)It's January, the week after previews has been released and we're back with a brand new podcast.

What's on the docket for today?

First we start with a discussion of is Blackest Night just for DC aficionados? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Second we talk about DCs next annual project, well, technically projects. DC is going to do two biweekly series. One of which will be Brightest Day, an epilogue to Blackest Night.

The other is Justice League: Generation Lost. (http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/generation-lost-150x225.jpg)Though we're not quite sure when in continuity this book will take place.

In movie news, Spider-man 4 is dead, instead we'll be seeing a reboot. Sam Raimi and the film company couldn't come to an agreement on who the villains would be, what the story would be and Tobey Maguire had said that there were "script issues." (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1242820/Tobey-Maguire-quits-Spider-Man-4--new-script-sends-Peter-Parker-high-school.html)Â All we know so far is they're keeping the writers and no one else and plan on moving Peter back to High School.

FCBD brings back one of my constant gripes. Why don't they make T-shirts in Comic Book Guy Size?

We're excited about FCBD titles. I'll add a list of what titles we talk about later.</itunes:summary>

and on the comics radar site
A new episode was uploaded
to download byte by megabyte

Presents still weren't wrapped
There was much to be done
but the new episode had to go up
because it was a fun one.

John and Matt talked about the best books
from November and December
And if he didn't upload the episode now,
John would probably never remember....

So enjoy the new show
and put it on your new ipod or MP3 device
We hope you enjoy it enough
to listen to it twice!

Â

Now that the bad Christmas parody poetry is done.
This episode:

	* John follows up on whether or not Superboy Prime is trying to be redeemed at DC
	* DC is shuffling and redealing their cofeatures
	* Bryan Singer is coming back to the X-films
	* Matt describes his very special viewing of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, while John fails to fix a problem.
	* Marvel has new Girl Comics

And we talk about (and spoil) our favorite comics of the last Month or so:

	* Batman/Doc Savage Special One-shot (DC)
	* Iron Man 20 & 21 (Marvel)
	* Deadpool 18 (DC)
	* Victorian Undead 2 (Wildstorm)
	* Murderer 1 (Top Cow)
	* Green Lantern 48, Blackest Night 5Â & GL: Corps 43 (DC)
	* Rebels 11(DC)
	* Cowboy Ninja Viking 2 (Image)
	* Thor: Giant Sized Finale & Thor 604 (Marvel)
	* Chew 7 (Image)
	* Ghostbusters: Past Present Future (IDW)
	* Incorruptible 1 (Boom! Studios)
	* X-Factor #200 (Marvel)

I wish I had a better excuse for why the site went dead silent for almost 2 months, but I really don't have one. I can justify Most of October, but November just kind of flushed itself before it even started. I had planned on doing NaPodPoMo (http://napodpomo.ning.com/) here. But about four hours into November, I knew that wasn't going to happen.

So, Matt is out of the hospital and I'm trying to pick up the pace on updates, but it's difficult.

Anyways, this episode we talk about:

	* We skipped October Previews for self sanity
	* I have trouble remembering a lot of stuff
	* Blackest Night (surprise, surprise)
	* Why John won't read a Didio written book, no matter how good it is.
	* Thor Casting and missed castings
	* Dollhouse Cancelled. surprised?
	* Frank Cho's New Hitman Monkey
	* Walking Dead coming to AMC
	* Matt loves Mario's Wii or something like that

Then we jump into November Previews at about 40 minutes in and BS our way through the guide forgetting a bunch more stuff.

Thanks for still being there, guys. Talk to you later.

Matt's not feeling well, so JC decided to take back the big chair for this week's podcast about Banned Book Week. Thanks to Mur Lafferty and "I Should Be Writing (http://isbw.murlafferty.com/)" for reminding me about it.

Here's a longer List of Banned Books (http://banned-books.com/bblist.html), though I don't believe that one truly definitive list exists. It'd be impossible as new books are contested every day.

And while the Comics subsection of literature may not face as many threats of banning. It faced it's own issues through the Comics Code Authority (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics_Code_Authority).

Here's the Complete 1954 guidelines (http://www.thecomicbooks.com/cca1954.html) just to see how far it really went in what could and could not be done.

And go read "Judgment Day (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2009/07/07/a-year-of-cool-comic-book-moments-day-188/)," one of the most talked about stories that was killed by the CCA.

And I forgot to mention it in the show, but if you can afford it and want to help prevent any comic bannings, you may want to consider donating to the CBLDF. (http://www.cbldf.org/) I'm sure they'd appreciate it, and so would I.

Wow, been too long since Matt or I last posted on the site, but here's a fresh new episode to enjoy. Good News, no F-bombs this time around.

(http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/tf2rotfallen-150x222.jpg)
First we review Transformers 2. We got to see a sneak preview Monday night, by now you've all seen it, but if not we give our almost spoiler free review.

I want to change the score I gave it though. I had previously rated the first TF an 8, so I have to move TF2 down a couple points. I'd give it a 6, maybe a low 7 because while not great, it was enjoyable.

News stories:
	* Archaia studios sign with Henson to adapt Legend, Dark Crystal, Fragglerock, and more.
	* Steve Rogers returns, kind of? Not really, in reprint heavy Cap 600. Reborn coming July 1.
	* Sean McKeever's new Nomad series. Why?
	* Why is Wildcat still alive?
	* X-babies Return  (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=21701)with Star Comics characters
(http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/xbabies-150x52.jpg)

	* Spidey still married? Not an imaginary story! Not an alternate Reality!
	* Ron Frenz gets lifetime achievement and it pisses me off!
	* Bryan Fuller leaves Heroes. Again.

Then we dive into the June Previews. And I plan to talk about PORN! okay, probably not.
and Matt loves Ghostbusters a little too much.

Theme Music is: Superhuman Strife by Joey Carey. (http://www.myspace.com/joecareymusic)

Blackest Night #1 Cover Pencils:
(http://comicsradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/blackest-night-pencils-400x600.jpg)

Matt and I sit down to look at the newest Previews and talk about a few comic news stories and discuss Destroyer.

Last ~4 minutes are the full version of Superhuman Strife by Joe Carey (http://www.myspace.com/joecareymusic), off of his album Wondervibe (http://cdbaby.com/cd/careyjoe). If you dig it like I do, show him some love.

Few Reminders:

	* Matt and My Pull Lists will be out tomorrow.
	* Brad Meltzer will be in Delray (http://comicsradar.com/archives/296/meet-brad-melter-in-delray-fl/), this Saturday. hope to see you there
* Check out Climbing Shrimp/Dork in Your Eye's New Website (http://www.climbingshrimp.com/) maybe I can get Ben to help me give Comics Radar a facelift.

After a futile battle between my secondary computer and talkshoe, we unfortunately had to give up on trying for a live episode in March.
But Ben from the Dork In Your Eye (http://climbingshrimp.blogspot.com/) podcast stayed up until 2 or 3 or 4 in the morning (I'm terrible at timezones) to talk with us. So, Ben joined Matt and I to talk about the Watchmen film.

I kept it short, only 40 mins.

Towards the end, I mention a horrible right wing screed by Debbie Schlussel (http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2009/03/the_watchmen_li.html).
Here's the first couple sentences:

If you take your kids to see "Watchmen," you're a moron.

If you see it yourself, you're also probably a moron and a vapid, indecent human being.

To be fair, I agree with the first sentence. It goes downhill from there. And the comic fan response? not much better, to be honest.

New Theme Music: Superhuman Strife by Joey Carey (http://www.myspace.com/joecareymusic)
Let me know what you think of it. Think it gives a little different feel to the podcast.</itunes:summary>

I thought about it after the fact and realized I really didn't give it the weight it deserved. The changes to these order numbers WILL KILL comics publishers. Hopefully not your favorite one, but somebodies favorite one will be killed.

To try and put a point on this, I decided to talk to some smaller publishers who may be effected by this. And with some luck, I hope to get a comment from Diamond Comics, as well. We'll find out tomorrow morning.

But for today, we have Dan Vado, Publisher of SLG Publishing (http://slgcomics.com/). They put out a lot of great comics. Follow the link and find out for yourself.</itunes:summary>

This episode we hear some excellent listener feedback.
first from Ben UK Check out his blog (http://climbingshrimp.blogspot.com/).
and we got a mention on the farpoint recap (http://farpointrecap.com)
and then we respond to some feedback about Matt's comments on McDuffie's JLA from dafixer (http://www.dafixer.com/) (check out his podcast) which went from good intentions but somehow set us on a course to offend as many people as possible for the rest of the episode.

then we call some semi-local comic shops to find out what they're seeing with Brand New Day.

John here. I have almost no voice. So, there won't be a podcast this week, despite having 2 that are almost done. (almost is subjective to my attitude on any given day.) So, I'm taking the opportunity to let Mur Lafferty tell you about her new Podiobook, Playing for Keeps. She's been hinting at it for a long time on her two podcasts, Geek Fu Action Grip (http://geekfuactiongrip.com/) and I Should Be Writing (http://isbw.murlafferty.com/). AND it's about superheroes, so I've been looking forward to it for while.
Give a listen, then head over to the Playing for Keeps Website (http://playingforkeepsnovel.com) and subscribe, when it launches on November 1.

Meanwhile, I'll be sipping warm tea with honey. Getting ready for next week.</itunes:summary>

The Vinyl Underground #1
Written by Si Spencer; Art by Simon Gane and Cameron Stewart; Cover by Sean Phillips

In this fast-paced, ultra-cool ongoing crime-noir series, an unlikely quartet of occult detectives secretly solve crimes — from DJ crack bars in Camden to the elegant, high-society ballrooms that make up modern London. The Vinyl Underground is led by Morrison Shepherd, a D-list celebrity darling, soul DJ, and son of an ex-footballer. Fresh out of prison and off a nasty coke habit, Morrison is joined by a fellow ex-con named Perv, whose seizures give him clues to crimes long before the cops, and Leah, a gorgeous morgue assistant who leads a double life online and represents the brawn of the team.

Morrison's ex-flame Abi is reluctantly forced to join the team when her father is implicated for murder. A young boy's head (with diamonds in the eye sockets) washes up on the edge of the Thames and seems to be connected to a series of ritual killings, a drug called Khat, and Muti magic. Can they get to the bottom of it?

Ray Harryhausen's Sinbad: Rogue of Mars
He's sailed the seven seas and explored unknown lands, fought countless monsters and battled evil wizards, but Sinbad's newest adventure may be the greatest, and most dangerous, he's ever had!

Eight years have passed since the assassination of the benevolent Zhar Dadgar and the curious disappearance of his heir. Akhdar, Dadgar's villainous nephew, has usurped the Dozhakian throne and enslaved the Azurian people, igniting a civil war within the once peaceful kingdom. A prophecy foretells the coming of a stranger from a distant land who will vanquish the false king and restore the rightful ruler to the throne. Could Sinbad be that stranger, or is he merely a pawn in Akhdar's treacherous game?

Cory Doctorow's Futuristic Tales of the Here and Now

Writer and BoingBoing.net co-editor Cory Doctorow has won acclaim for his science-fiction writing as well as his Creative Commons presentation of his material. Now, IDW Publishing is proud to present six standalone stories ("Anda's Game," "Sysadmins," "Craphound," "I, Robot," "After the Siege," and "Nimby") adapted from Doctorow's work, each featuring cover art by some of comics' top talents.

Up first is "Anda's Game." For 12-year-old Anda, getting paid real money to kill the characters of players who were cheating in her favorite online computer game was a win-win situation. Until she found out who was paying her, and what those characters meant to the livelihood of children around the world. Award-winning artist Sam Kieth provides the debut issue's cover.

And Interview with Sean Taylor (http://taylorverse.com) about his new Series, "Gene Simmons Dominatrix (http://genesimmons.com/pages/comix/index.html)" (I didn't feel Dominatrix Interview was an accurate portrayal of this ep.) that really is more than you would expect by the covers.

This episode does NOT contain any cursing, but does deal with sexuality and alternative sexuality a little bit, so you may want to preview it before letting any small children listen.

preview pages are for issue 2. Issue 1 and 2 are already out and available at better LCSs everywhere.

Press Release from Image:

A true man without fear strikes this November!

August 28th, 2007 (Berkeley, CA) - This November GROUNDED's Mark Sable, 2000 AD's P.J. Holden and industry newcomer David Roth reinvent what it means to be a man without fear with FEARLESS, an all-new full color four-issue miniseries.

"If you're going to do a superhero book these days you really need to do something unique," says Mark Sable. "FEARLESS is far from typical. The lead is a literal man without fear, as behind the mask he's paralyzed with a crippling anxiety disorder, but an anti-fear drug enables him to fight the war on crime. A life of dependency crashes down when his supply runs completely dry. What comes next is the crux of the series."

Sable is best known for his work on the critically-acclaimed GROUNDED and artist P.J. Holden is revered for his work on 2000 AD, while co-writer David Roth has a background in film and television. However, the itch to work in comics has been a long time coming.

David Roth explains, "This has been an amazing experience. Working with people as talented as Mark and PJ in this new medium has been a creative windfall. From inception to execution, it seems like every idea becomes a possibility, while this unprecedented level of control over the process has been both rewarding and educational. I couldn't be happier with the results of our collaboration on FEARLESS."

FEARLESS #1 (SEP071951), a 32-page full color four-issue miniseries with a cover price of $2.99, will be available for order in the September issue of Previews and will go on sale November 7th.

In what I think is another strong step towards the strength of Digital Comics, Particle 9 productions (http://www.particle9productions.com/) has teamed up with Outcast Media (http://www.requiemoftheoutcast.com/) (ran by the man I affectionately call "Goddamn Rich Sigfrit" because I was sure he was going to beat me for the parsec award last year and it just stuck.) to put out a comic on a podcast fee. And it's totally free.
And if just the thought that it's a free comic in digital format, I'll include a six page preview of it, in this very feed.</itunes:summary>

Another Interview episode, but this one is a bit different. I talk to Podiobook Author and one hell of a cool guy, JC Hutchins, on the eve of kicking off the third part of his 7th Son Trilogy (http://jchutchins.net/7Son/Gateway.html). And it turns out JC actually has a tie to comics. He used to be a Wizard (http://wizarduniverse.com/) intern and originally envisioned 7th son as a comic book. So, listen to the interview. And If you're not listening to 7th son already. Go to podiobooks.com (http://podiobooks.com/) and Start listening NOW! (http://podiobooks.com/title/7th-son-book-one---descent)

    In the near future, science is able to distill human personalities into a drug-form. Called utopiates --a merging of the words utopia and opiate-- these drugs allow users to swap personalities with the “mental imprints” of other people. Each is a user of Utopiates for their own reasons, but all learn the cost of soul swapping is extremely high. At its core, this series is an unflinching portrayal of human behavior at its most extreme. Issue #1,
    "A Moment of Clarity," follows a street kid and his journey down a dark and slippery path.
